Toyota Brands Earn Most Acknowledgment On 2010 Initial Quality Study
June 21, 2010 – Carson, Calif. – Carson Toyota proud to confirm, Toyota brands have received a combined six segment awards in the 2010 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS), more awards than any other manufacturer.
The J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality StudySM(IQS) is widely considered the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership. It is one of five key automotive studies that J.D. Power and Associates publishes each year.
J.D. Power and Associates have conducted the study annually for the past 24 years. Each year, tens of thousands of new-vehicle owners respond to J.D. Power and Associates surveys to provide feedback on quality during the first 90 days of new-vehicle ownership. Consumers are asked to rate both mechanical quality (i.e., defects and malfunctions) and design quality (how well a particular feature works or operates).
"We are very proud that Toyota brands have earned the six segment awards," said General Manager, Marty Brylski. "It’s great acknowledgement of Toyota’s hard work and dedication. We’re happy to be part of the Toyota family," he said.
The Scion nameplate moved up again in this year’s study, from 20th to 18th with 114 PP100, an improvement of four PP100. The Scion xB earned the 2010 segment award for Compact Multipurpose Vehicle, while the Scion tC improved by 10 PP100 to 109 PP100.
